AUSTRALIAN OFFICIAL TRADE COMMISSIONER •' [from our own correspondent] SYDNEY, June 3 An official announcement made at Canberra indicates that the Commonwealth Government has decided not to raise tho status of Australia's representation in the United States to that of Commissioner-General. Tho Prime Minister, Mr. J. A. Lyons, announced that on tho retirement of Mr. D. M. Dow from tho position of Official Representative in the United States, the New York office would become a Trade Commissioner's oflice and that Mr L. P, MacGregor. Trade Commissioner in Canada, would become Australian Government Trade Commissioner in New York.
No immediate appointment would be made to tho Canadian office. Mr. MacGregor would supervise the work there. Mr. Lyons, commenting on Mr. Dow's retirement, said that the Government deeply appreciated his work in New York! He had worthily represented Australia.
