AMERICAN PARTY JOURNEY TO NEW ZEALAND ARRIVAL AT MELBOURNE DIVERSION FROM SYRIA By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright (Roceivcd June (J, 10.0 p.m.) MELBOURNE, June G Four American oil experts from Texas, California, and Oklahoma arrived by the liner Maloja from London to-day, on their way to New Zealand. The group is under the leadership of Mr. Hobart La Mar, who has played an important part in international oil investigations in the last 15 years. Tlio other members of the party are Mr. llobert Kuss, Mr. Georgo Baker and Mr. C. P. McDonald. The men were assembled at Beirut, in Syria, for investigations on behalf of the Amiranian Oil Company in Iran and Afghanistan, but a political hitch cancelled their plans, and they were instructed to proceed immediately to New Zealand. ' The party will leave Sydney by the Niagara on Thursday, arriving at Auckland on June 13. Secrecy surrounds the visit, the men, declining interviews. Mr. La Mar waved a cablegram saying his principals had warned him to release no news.
