EFFORTS IN VAIN MONSOON ARRIVES EARLY LONDON, June 5 The British Mount Everest expedition has retired to Kharta Valley, says the Kalimpong correspondent of the Daily Mail. The members of the party arc recuperating after efforts to scalo tho mountain, in which they did not ascend far beyond the North Col owing to the early arrival of tho monsoon, which was ripping across the mountain face and made climbing impossible. All tho men are eafe, but most ai'<? weak after influenza. It is understood that two may remain in Tibet until the monsoon ench, but it is believed that such a small party will not tackle the peak.
