MR. N. HERRESHOFF FAMOUS YACHT BUILDER (Received June 8. 5.5 p.m.) • NEW YORK, June 2 The death is announced of Mr. Nathaniel Herreshoff, aged 90, builder of many of the defenders of the America's Cup. Born at Bristol, Rhode Island, Mr. Nathaniel Herreshoff was educated at public schools there and at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He received special education in engineering. He was the designer of many yachts and torpedo boats built by the Herreshoff Manufacturing Company, of which he was superintendent from 1881 to 1915, and president from 1915 to 1924, when he retired. He was a member of the Institute of Naval Architects, England, the American Institute of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers, and of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
