CRITICISM BY OFFICERS HINT OF RETALIATION i . MINISTER DENIES ACTION It was stated freely in Auckland yesterday that disciplinary action was being taken by the Government against four of the senior officers of the New Zealand Territorial Force, who issued a joint statement recently criticising the Government's defence policy. However, the Minister of Defence, the Hon, F. Jones, stated that he had taken no action, but be declined to discuss the matter further. The statement that was in circulation in the city was that the two Auckland officers who signed the manifesto, Colonel C. R. Spragg and Colonel N. L. Macky, had been notified that, as from July 11, they were to be posted to the retired list, The other officers who signed the statement were Colonel A. S. Wilder, of Waipukuraui and Colonel R. F. Gambrill, of Gisborne. When the matter was brought under the notice of Colonel Spragg last night he declined to discuss it.
