STARVING STOCK'S PLIGHT FODDER FREIGHTS REDUCED [PROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT] SYDNEY, May 27 The New South Wales Minister of Transport, Mr. M. F. Bruxner, an- , Bounced recently that it had been decided that the freight concession of Is -8d a ton on fodder for starving stock 6ent by rail, now applying to large consignments, should also apply to small consignments of less than truckloads, subject to a minimum charge of 10s. Arrangements had been made for the Railway Department to apply this concession retrospectively to all consignments of less than truckloads which had been transported on or from April 1, 1938, and the concession would also apply to consignments forwarded in composite trucks up to and including the date of this latest decision. With the application of the concession generally to small consignments, however, no concession would in future apply to fodder forwarded in composite trucks of general goods. Mr. Bruxner said that the concession had been decided upon because of the Government's 'great concern at the serious dro'ught position in many of the inland districts and the difficulty being experienced by small graziers ia. obtaining; their requirements of fodder for starving Btock.
