LINESMAN'S DEATH

FORMER RUGBY PLAYER The linesman, Mr. Rupert Leslie Hartv, who was accidentally electrocuted at Blenheim on Tuesday by touching a high-power cable, was formerly a well-known Rugby player. When the first Springbok team visited New Zealand in 1921, he was a member of the King Country team, which met the Sjoutli Africans at Hamilton. Born in Wellington 42 years ago, Mr. Harty was the son of the late Mr. J. K. Hartv and Mrs. A. C. Harty, who is now a resident of Devonport. For a number of years he was engaged in sheep farming with his brother," Mr. W. R. Harty, at Honikiwi, 15 miles west of Otorohanga. His brother still farms the property there, while two other brothers, who were also prominent sportsmen, are Dr. E. R. Harty, of Dunedin, and Air. L. P. Harty, of Taumarunui.
