ARAWA MAORI'S DEATH
TRAMPLED ON BY HORSE TANGI HELD AT NAUMAI [BY TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT] NAUMAI, Tuesday A leading member of the Arawa tribe, Mr. George Edwards, died yesterday from injuries suffered when be was trampled 011 by a horse some time ago. Mr. Edwards, who was 75 years of age, lived near Naumai, between Ruawai and Tokatoka. Ho came from Rotorua many years ago, and was well known in the North Auckland district.
A few weeks ago Mr. Edwards was bringing a load of firewood through the gateway leading to his home when the horse drawing the cart moved forward suddenly, and he was crushed against the gatepost. He was thrown to the ground and the horse trampled upon him. inflicting severe injuries to the chest
A tangi is being held, and is expected to last a week. A large number of visitors from lvotorua and other districts aro expected to attend.
