FOOTBALL TOUR
RUGBY LEAGUE TEAM VISIT TO AUSTRALIA PLAYERS LEAVE TO-NIGHT The members of the New Zealand Rugby League team, which will leave for the Australian tour by the Niagara to-night, assembled in Auckland yesterday and are quartered at the Commercial Hotel. The team comprises 22 players, 18 of whom are Aucklanders, and three South Islanders, while Wellington has one representative. The players attended the funeral yesterday morning of Mr. W. Smith, father of J. Smith, one of the fullhacks of the team. A good practice was held at Carlaw Park in the afternoon and the team was the guest last night at a farewell ball tendered by the Auckland Rugby League Ladies' Social Committee at the Peter Pan cabaret. A civic farewoll will be given to the players by the Mayor, Sir Ernest Davis, at tho Town Hall at noon today. They will be entertained at morning tea by George Court, Limited. The New Zealand team is comprised of the following players:—
Fullbacks: J. Smith, J. Hemi (Auckland) ; threequarters, G. Midgley, R. Chase, C. McNeil, A. Kay (Auckland), It. Brown (Canterbury); fiveeighths, Walter Brimble, W. Tittleton (Auckland); half-backs, _ Wilfred Brimble, R. Grotto (Auckland); forwards, J. Cootes (Wellington), G. Onnan (Buller), W. Glynn (West Coast), D. Herring, W. McNeight, A. Gault, J. Brodrick, J. McLeod, J. Anderson, J. Satherley, H. Tetley (Auckland). McNeight will captain the team and Brown will be vice-captain. Mr, J. A. Redwood, Auckland, will be manager, and Mr. W. O. Carlaw, Auckland, assistant-manager. Mr. A. T. McClymont, Auckland, will accompany the team as coach.
