AUCKLAND JOURNALIST MISS IRIS WILKINSON JOURNEY TO BATTLEFRONT SEARCH BEGUN BY JAPANESE By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright SHANGHAI, May 27 The Japanese authorities are searching for an Auckland journalist, Miss Iris Wilkinson (Robin Hyde), who left Hsuchow on donkeyback for the north-eastern front, which is now overrun by Japanese troops retreating from Langfeng.

Miss Wilkinson may possibly have taken refuge with missionaries Avho are determined to remain at Hsuchow to safeguard Chinese refugees.

Under the name of Robin Hyde, Miss Wilkinson is well known in Now Zealand as an author, poet and magazine contributor. Her books comprise "Passport to Hell," "Journalese," and "Wednesday's Children." A Press Association message from Wellington states that Miss Wilkinson left New Zealand in January with the intention of proceeding via Shanghai, Kobe, Vladivostok and the trans-Siberian railway to Russia and thence to England, but her itinerary was interrupted by the lengthening of her sojourn in China. There she was engaged in journalistic work. Her family last heard from her from Canton on April 2. She then intended to go to Hankow and then as far as she could toward the war zone, writing for various periodicals, but this was to occupy only a month.
