"STRONGER EVERY DAY * (Received May 26,:*:5'.5 p.m.) British Wireless RUGBY, May 26 The Financial Secretary to the Admiralty, Mr. Geoffrey Shakespeare, speaking at the Royal Empire Society's function at Liverpool, said the main features of the Admiralty's plan to safeguard trade routes were: Special naval convoys for the main trade routes; the conversion of 6ome vessels into anti-aircraft vessels; the provision of a new type known as escort vessels; and the strengthening of the Navy's destroyer arms. "A strong Navy is vital to -our. : safety," said Mr. Shakespeare, r is becoming stronger every da^ . this moment we are building w aggregating 562,000 tons.
