LAST PENALTY PAID
MURDERER OF CHILD ALFRED SPICER EXECUTED SYDNEY. May 26 Alfred Spicer, aged 65, who was sentenced to death early this month for the brutal murder of a six-year-old girl, Mareia Hayes, last Christmas Eve, was hanged this morning. Alfred Spicer. who was aged 65, was a gardener. He was convicted on a charge of murdering Marcia Hayes, aged six, near Windsor, New South Wales. Her body was found in a sack. She had been strangled. ; A police dog, less, played a major part in solving the murder. A large party of searchers was unable to locate the child when Tess, after being allowed to sniff tho child's clothing at her home, set out on a trail across paddocks and finally located the body in a creek near the Hawkesbury River.
