MANUKAU CLUB'S FUNCTION

The Manukiiu Yacht and Motor-Boat Club held its annual distribution of prizes and dance in the Foresters' Theatre, Onetiunga. last, night. There was a large attendance of members and visitors, including representatives of the various yacht clubs 011 the Waitemata and Manukau. The commodore, Mr. E. Laird, in extending a welcome to the visitors, apologised for the absence of the Mayor. Sir Ernest Davis, Mr. A. O. Osborne. M.P.. and Mr. 11. J. C George, commodore of Hie Royal New Zen lane! Yacht Squadron. The president, Mr. E. A. Herd, who presented the prizes, congratulated the club on the success it had achieved during the past season and paid a tribute to the splendid services rendered by its officers and committee. The most important prizes were won by the following:—Open and 18ft championship cups, Mere; 1 Oft championship and Tll Karo Cup, Mistral; lift championship, Perseus; lift (tin championship. aggregate points and Rawlinson cups. Wixie M.: Sanlt Tup. Atalanta; Duff banner contest. Messrs. T. Quigley and J). McLeod; Goodfellowslup Clip, Takanuna Boating CI11H; Sir Ernest Davis' Tropin', Mystic; speedboat championship Miss itanukau; aggregate points nip for launches, Karma. Other prizes were won by the following:—Yachts: 1 amaki Foam, Mere, Alonia, Perseus, Mystic, Shirley, Opah, Fnv Maile, Mistral, Mvster.v, Maia, Vagabond, Sunbeam, Patricia, Atalanta Wixte M. Launches: Maratea, Waimca, Miss Ngaire, Matariki, Elma.
