BRITISH CHAMPIONSHIP SECOND ROUND RESULTS TOLLEY IN GOOD FORM IRISH PLAYER'S SUCCESS By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright (Received May 26, 1*2.50 a.m.) LONDON, May 25 In the second round of the British amateur golf championship at Troon to-day Cyril Tolley, winner in 1920 and 1929, defeated Alexander Russell (Australia), 5 and 3. Tolley's form was magnificent and he played nonchalantly. He has a good chance of winning his third championship. H. W. Hattersley (Australia) beat J. S. Morrison, 5 and 4; M. J. Ryan (Australia) beat W. Thorburn, 3 and 1; Ross Somerville (Canada) beat Ogilvie (South Africa). 7 and 6; Francis Ouimet, non-playing captain of the United States Walker Cup team, beat Dr. W. T wed del, 4 and 3. The biggest sensation of the day was provided by Briscoe, an elderly Irishman, who defeated the American Walker Cnp player Marvin Ward at the 20th. Two Americans eliminated teammates. C. R. Yates beat Johnny Fischer at the 19th, and Johnny Goodman beat Ray Billows, 4 and 2. In the second round, Mackay beat Howie, 2 and 1; Robb beat the holder, Sweeny, 5 and 4.
