LARGE GROUP OF SUNSPOTS AURORAL DISPLAY POSSIBLE [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] WELLINGTON, Wednesday During the last couple of days * very active group of sunspots has its appearance, the eruption being usually sudden. The group has the prodigious length of 100.000 miles. I at present just off the sun's centra meridian, and it is possible that dur* ing the next night or two there may be a repetition of magnetic disturbances and possibly an auroral display. In addition to the huge group 01 spots, there is quite a number of otherSi the whole solar disc being very active. The centres of the two main spots art separating at about 18 miles a second* according to calculations made at the Dominion Observatory this morning.
