GERMANS SUCCESSFUL ELIMINATION OF NORWAY FIRST THREE MATCHES WON (Received May 22, 6.50 p.m.) BERLIN, May 2i In the opening singles of the second round of the Davis Cup match between Germany and Norway, Metaxa (Austria), who played instead of von Cramm, beat Haanes, 2—6, 5—7, 6 —2, 6—3, 7—5. The other Norwegian, Jenssen, was also defeated, H. Henkel vanquishing him in straight sets with the loss of only one game of the 19 played. In the doubles Germany eliminated Norway, Metaxa and Henkel defeating Haaries and Jensen, 6—l, 6—2, 6—3.
OTHER MATCHES PLAYED BRITAIN FARING BADLY (deceived May 22, 6.30 p.m.) LONDON, May 21 In the Davis Cup contest between Britain and Yugoslavia at Zagreb Mitic (Yugoslavia) beat Butler .(Britain) 6—3, 6—l, 6—4; Punec .(Yugoslavia) was leading Shayes ((Britain) 6—4, 4—6, 6—2, 3—2 w;hen bad light stopped play. At Marseilles Petra (France) beat Nogues (Monaco) 6—l, 6—l, 6 —o, and Destremeau (France) beat Medecin ■(Monaco) 6—3, 6 —o, 6—l. At Stockholm Schroder (Sweden) beat Fischer (Switzerland) B—6,8 —6, 6—2, 6—o; Maneff (Switzerland) beat Rholeon (Sweden) 6—l, 6—4, 2—6, 6—l. In the doubles Schroder and Rholson beat Fischer and Maneff 6—2, 5—7. 6—4, 7—5.
