CASE OF DR. GREIBL
ARRESTED IN GERMANY IMPRISONMENT FOLLOWS BERLIN. May 20 Dr. Greibl, who mysteriously disappeared from New York, was arrested for trying to land from the steamer Bremen without a passport. He was imprisoned at Bremerhaven. RETURN UNLIKELY ESPIONAGE INVESTIGATION (Received. May 22, 11.10 p.m.) NEW YORK, May 22 Federal officials expressed the opinion that Dr. Greibl's sentence would be likely to be sufficiently elastic to prevent his return 'in time to testify in connection with the spy hunt. They said they were convinced Dr. Greibl had been persuaded to slip out of the United States by secret German authorities directing espionage activities here. It is believed the case of Dr. Greibl, who was a lieutenant in the United States Army Medical Reserve, will cause a drastic tightening of the restrictions pertaining to reserve commissions.
