SUNLIGHT LEAGUE

DOUBT ABOUT FUTURE LESS VOLUNTARY WORK Doubt about the society's future is expressed in the annual report of the Sunlight League, whose annual meeting is to be held at Christcliurch on Friday. The organisation conducts children's health camps. It might, states the report, find difficulty in carrying out voluntary work. Persons qualified to help were generally those whose working hours usually extended far beyond the 40-honr week and who, because of increased taxation, might not be able to give so freely of their time as in the past. The report also expresses the uneasiness of some members whether the ideals of the league might be lost sight of; and it is hoped that institutional methods will never replace the plan of giving responsibility to the child and citizenship training in camp. It is also hoped that the love of open-air will continue to be encouraged. A credit balance of £996 is shown by the annual statement of accounts.
