PAY ON HOLIDAYS
LOCAL BODY WORKERS CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR ARBITRATION COURT RULING HAWKE'S BAY AGREEMENT [BY TELEGRAPH —OPRKBS ASSOCIATION] WELLINGTON, Saturday An interpretation of part of the holiday clause in the / Hawke's Bay local bodies' labourers' agreement has been given by Mr. Justice O'Regau
in the Arbitration Court. He holds that workers are entitled to be paid for Christmas Day and New Year's Day, when such days fall oji Saturdays. The Court, held that the fact that certain classes of workers might be called upon to work on Saturdays was not really relevant to the issue, the plain meaning of the clauso being that the days named iyi it should be paid for, irrespective of the day on which they happened to fall.
