VICE-REGAL VISIT * f ' . ■ v LADY GALWAY AND CHILDREN STAY OF OVER AN HOUR GREAT INTEREST DISPLAYED In spite of the depressing weather there was an atmosphere of gaiety and excitement at the Wilson Home for Crippled Children yesterday morning, when Her Excellency, Lady Galway, paid her first visit. Thirty children were present, together with fire outpatients, niul Lady Galway stayed for over an hour inspecting the building and chatting with the patients. Her Excellency was accompanied by her four children, the Hons. Mary, Celia and Isabel Moucktoji and the Hon. Simon Monckton-Arundcll, and Lieutenant Lombard Hobson, A.D.C. The Vice-Regal party was conducted over the home by the chairman of the Auckland Hospital Board, the Rev. W. C. Wood, and the matron. Miss T. R. Faulconbridge. Conversations With Patients

On entering the home Lady Galway was presented with a bouquet of flowers by Elaine Court on behalf of the patients. The party then made a round of the various wards, and spent several minutes talking with each child Of the 30 children in the home five are under five years of age, while the ages of the remainder range from five to 16.

Her Excellency's children soon found interests in common with those of the patients, and animated conversations took place, as the patients i proudly presented their pet toys and favourite books. The boys in the home displayed great interest in the white pony and stamp collection of the ; Hon. Simon Monckton-Arundell, saying that they had seen pictures of him mounted on his pony. The visit was purely iac formal. The Matron Congratulated Lady Galway commented on the bright and happy demeanour of the patients and congratulated the. matron on the appearance of the home. Her Excellency displayed great interest in the various methods of treatment and remarked on the scope it offered for the care of crippled children. The party was later entertained at morn- ! ing tea by the matron. Already 51 children have been ! treated at the home, and 17 have been i discharged. All show ' material : benefit. When an additional room is completed it is expected that a further 10 patients will be able to be accommodated, and it is hoped to admit these children with the next fortnight.
