BUSINESS MAN'S DEATH &•<* *•'i* ' VEHICLE STRIKES BUILDING s'sf- , • While driving his motor-car in WelJesley Street West yesterday morning a city business man, Mr. Albert James Thompson, aged 54, of 14 Oak Street, Royal Oak, collapsed and died. ■»lr. Thompson was accompanied in the car by Mr. A. D. Sims, his business partner, . and he collapsed after the vehicle had turned out of Albert Street into Wellesley Street, falling gainst Mr. Sims. The car, which was travelling at a very slow pace, crossed the footpath and struck the wall of the Shamrock Hotel at the corner, fhe left mudguard on the car was but no other damage was none. o
"A nurse who was passing gave assistjnce, but Mr. Thompson was dead before the St. John ambulance arrived. \)tr. Thompson was senior partner the firm of Thompson and Sims, Limited, saw and machine knife manufacturers, of Cook Street, City. He born in Australia,- but came to Zealand about 20 years ago, later Sharking on his present business in Wellington, About 10 years ago he raoved to Auckland, where he had since remained. He was an enthusiastic cricketer, having taken an active in the game until a few years a ß°> and was also keenly interested in Evening. He is survived by Mrs. jnompson and one son and one "lighter.
