HEATING IN SCHOOLS
In approved cases', the Education Department is notv : prepared to provide two-thirds of the cost of installing up-to-date heating systems in schools to replace-existing facilities on condition that the balance of the cost is contributed by education boards from their grants for maintenance of buildings. Advice to this effect was received from the department at a meeting of the Wellington Education Board when the chairman, Mr. W. V. Dyer, said the now I ;arrangement absolved school committees from having to find one-third of the cost, which had always seemed wrong to him.
