AIRCRAFT FOR FRANCE
HUNDRED FROM AMERICA SUCCESS OF DEFENCE LOAN (Received May .17, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, May 10 The French Minister of Air, M., Guy *Whambr», has announced that the Government purchased 100 fighting aeroplanes from the United States, after obtaining the consent of the President, Mr. Roosevelt, says the Paris correspondent of the Daily MailWireless talks, tricoloured posters, and Army aeroplanes trailing banners Were used to exhort the people to subscribe to the French defence loan of " £28,000,000. Bonds of 100 francs were issued for the humblest to subscribe. The loan has been over-subscribed.
