LICENSEE OF AN INN DRAWS BEER ONCE YEARLY V [FBOM OTTB OWN* COBRESPOXDtXTj - - , LONDON, April 27 The Earl of Buckinghamshire ha« changed his surname by Royal licence •from Hobart-Hampden-Mercer-Hender-son to Mercer-Heriderson. The change was announced in the London Gazette. Lord Buckinghamshire, who is 32 * years old, succeeded his father, seventh holder of the Earldom, in 1930. He ii descended from John Hampden, the "Great Patriot" of the Civil War, and lives at Hampden House, Great Missenden, Bucks. He is the licensee of the Hampden Arms, a picturesque inn in the village of Great Hampden, of which his father also held the licence for 4o years. Once a year custom has it that he must stand behind the bar and draw beer for .the patrons. In 1903, 15 years after he had married the only daughter of the Hon. Hew Adam Dalrymple Hamilton Hal-dane-Duncan-Mercer-Henderson, the seventh Earl assumed by Royal licence the additional surname of Mercer-Hen-acrson. ; . Lord Buckinghamshire, who own* 6000 acres/ also possesses a house at Fordell, Inverkeithing, Fifeshire.
