BRIDE'S TAFFETAS GOWN

The marriage was celebrated at St. Aidan's Church, Remuera, on Saturday evening of Miss Ronica Norma Richmond, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Richmond, of Takaka, Nelson, to Mr. Owen Mortimer Shroff, elder son of Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Shroff, of 44 Ladies Mile, Remuera. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. R. L. Connolly, and the wedding music was played by Mr. A. E. Dodd. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a beautiful gown of parchment taffetas with an accordeonpleated skirt, shirred bodice and full puff sleeves. Her veil of cream tulle was caught with a head-dress of orange blossom, and she carried a sheaf of slipper orchids and maidenhair fern.

In attendance as bridesmaids were Miss Jean McLennan (Wellington) and Miss Muriel Shroff (sister of the bridegroom). They were dressed alike in frocks of pale green floral georgette with full circular skirts and shirred bodices finished with bands of pale green velvet ribbon at the waist. They wore circlets of apricot-coloured gladioli and carried bouquets of autumn-tinted gladioli and chrysanthemums. The bridegroom was attended by Mr. Frank Shroff (brother of the bridegroom) as best man, and bv Mr. 13. Ross (Wellington) as groomsman.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Hotel Cargen. where the lounge was decorated with large bowls of dahlias and chrysanthemums in autumn shades. Mrs. Gordon Richmond received her guests in a charming frock of brown floral georgette with shirred bodice finished with a diamante clip, long full sleeves and a flared skirt. She wore a shoulder spray of autumntinted Chinese lanterns. Mrs. A. H. Shroff, mother of the bridegroom, was in a frock of black floral satin with bands of faggoting at the neckline, and long sleeves buttoned from shoulder to wrist. She wore a spray of pink bouvardia and polvantha roses. Miss Dorothy Shroff (sister of the bridegroom) wore a frock of cloth of gold with a cinnamon brown velvet tunic. The bride travelled in a frock of plum-coloured cloque with fur coat and matching brown toque. Guests were: —Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Cooper, the Rev. R. L. Connolly, Mr. and Mrs. W. Ross, Mrs. N. J. Lewis (Nelson). Mr. and Miss Gibbons, Mrs. Tattle, Mrs. Bruce, Mr. and Mrs. H. Barrie. Mr. and Mrs. Hartley Kayes, Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Hirst, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Binney, Mr. an d Mrs. Max Colebrook, Misses .Jocelyn Tattle, Peter and I'overan Bruce, Messrs. Murray Hunter, Bob Leary, E. Schnaekenberg and Philip Bowie.

MA TTH i:\YS—CLA R KE A quiet wedding was celebrated at St. Saviour's Church, Kaitaia, yesterday afternoon, when Miss Christabel Clarke, only daughter of the late Lieutenant - Colonel Colin Clarke, D.5.0., Royal Army Medical Corps and of Mrs. Clarke, Runnymeade, Kaitaia. was married to Theophilus Herbert Matthews, only son of the late Mr. Herbert B. Matthews and of Mrs. Matthews, of Ohuirangi Kaitaia. The ceremony was conducted by the Rev. H. G. Taylor, vicar of St. Saviour's. The bride wore a navy blue tailored suit with a navy halo hat trimmed with a pheasant's quill. She carried a bouquet of autumn-coloured flowers. In attendance was Miss Molly Cauldwell, wearing a grey cloth costume and bcrrv red hat. The wedding music was played by Mrs. Leonard Bell, sister of the Late Lord Rutherford. Following the ceremony a reception was held by the bride's mother, attended only by relatives. Mrs. Clarke received her guests wearing a flowered black crepe frock, fur trimmed black coat and black hat. The bridegroom's mother, Mrs. H. B. Matthews, was in navy blue with gold relief and toning hat* Mrs. Leonard Bell wore a brown ensemble suit with matching hat. and Miss Phoebe Clarke, aunt of the bride, was in a prune-coloured frock with ecru lace relief, corsage of pale pink roses, and prune-coloured hat with a French bow on the crown.
