ELLERSLIE WORK

JUMPERS SCHOOLED ,

ALL IRISH FENCES WELL

ALYTH AND SHY SPRINT

Most interest at EUerslie yesterday morning was taken in the schooling of the jumpers. The No. 2 grass,, with the poles sft. out, wns open for galloping and the going was considerably improved. On the grass Aero King (McTavish) and Trevace (Treinain) ran six furlongs in 1.20 2-5, the first three in 39 4-os." Aero King impressed by the easy manner in which he was doing his work at the finish.

King Musk (Williams) and El Meynell (McTavish) were on terms at the conclusion of half a mile in 51 3-ss, the first furlong taking 13s. Both were doing it comfortably at the end. El Mevnell is booked to make his appearance at the Waikato meeting next week.

Bright Idea (Buchanan) went half a mile, averaging 15s to the furlong. Ho was allowed to forego his Franklin engagement but there is nothing amiss with him.

Summary (Watson) sprinted three furlongs iu 38 4-os. Tupeotu (Butterworth) finished up the last half-mile of his work at three-quarter pace. This Potoa —Merry Jest gelding is making good progress. Ohmaha (Murray) was not bustled to complete three furlongs in 38 3-os. He looks bright and well after his recent let-up. After schooling, All Irish (Cammick) traversed six furlongs in 1.22 3-5, the first three in 41 3-ss. He hit out with plenty of freedom and if he maintains his present rate of progress ho should have good prospects in important jumping events this season., Alyth (Gilchrist) and Shy (Nicolson) finished together at the end of threo furlongs in 37 4-ss. They were going strongly at tho end and appear to be progressing very strongly. Neil (Stokes) went twice round over four of the. steeplechase fences on the flat, jumping in his usual proficient manner.

The Trimmer (Smith) schooled over four hurdles but his display was a little erratic.

Ail Irish (O'Connor) negotiated four of the steeplechase fences ,in good style. An unnamed Illumination mare (Watson) from I. Tucker's stable gave a very promising display for a novice over two pony hurdles. Later, ridden by Biggins, she repeated the performance.

Te Hai (Watson) showed his dislike for the pony hurdles by repeatedly refusing to jump and was not persevered with.
