CHINESE ART

DISPLAY AT MUSEUM The display of Chinese exhibits in the Auckland War Memorial Museum ha 3 been augmented, temporarily by two interesting and valuable collections. One of these, which will be shown until the end of June, was lent last year for the Chinese Art Exhibition by Mrs: C. L. Rutherston, of England. It comprises part of her late husband's collection which was in the Victoria and Albert Museum, London. Mrs. Rutherston has given permission for it to be exhibited in Auckland for the extended period. Included in the collection are some outstanding bowls and model figuresand jades of various early Chinese periods. The second loaned collection is owned by Captain Humphreys-Davies, of Clevedon, and comprises six cases of pottery, porcelain, bronzes and jades. It will be on view during the period that the Rutherston collection is shown.
