RUGBY IN HAMILTON

GOOD FORM DISPLAYED That keener interest in Rugby football is being taken in Hamilton this season is evident by the attendances at Rughv Park on the opening day and last Saturday to witness Stag Trophy competition matches. The contest on Saturday between Technical Old Boys and Cambridge was fast and open. Although beaten by 10 points, the Cambridge team improved greatly on its performance of the previous week. Brilliant form was displayed by the Old Boys fifteen, which decisively accounted for Te Awainutu Rovers at Te Awamutu by 32 points to 6. The winning team played sparkling football in the second spell. Its display was one of the finest seen on the Te Awamutu ground for a long time. Backs and forwards combined brilliantly, while the baeking-up play of the team was a delight to M;atch. The outstanding back was A. J. Sayers, of Old Boys, who scored four ■ tries.

Without the services of It. Everest, its star threequarter, the Frankton team lacked its usual sting in its match against Taupiri, the game ending in a draw, nine points all. There was little real combination throughout the contest. The value of accurate place-kick-"ig was demonstrated by Taupiri, its points being made up of three penalty Coals.
