FARM AND FACTORY

DOMINION'S RESOURCES IMPRESSIVE EXHIBITION ATTRACTION OF NEW. VENUE Once again town and country have combined at the Auckland Winter Exhibition to give an impressive display of the wealth and diversity of farm and factory production in the Auckland Province. This year s exhibition marks a new departure in that it is being held at the Epsom Showgrounds instead of in the Central Wharf sheds, and the manner in which displays have been arranged under conditions which have not previously applied, represents a genuine triumph of organisation. The exhibition was officially opened last night by the Minister of Industries and Commerce, the Hon. D. G. Sullivan. Weather conditions, unfortunately, were against a large public attendance, but the exhibition will be open daily and every evening until May 14, and there will be ample opportunity for the public to judge for itself the improvements in general layout that have been effected as a result of a change of home. Judging in most of the competitive sections was completed yesterday, but the Kennel Club s show, the Poultry Club s show and various other competitions are to be held at varying dates during the time the exhibition remains open. Taken all round, this year's exhibition more than maintains the reputation for progress in the wealth and interest of displays, which the Auckland Manufacturers' Association and the Auckland Agricultural and Pastoral Association have jointly endeavoured to foster. Butter and cheese and other farm products, vegetables, fruit and honey, are indicative of the wealth and fertility of the farmlands of the province, and of the skill and efficiency of individual farmers. On the other hand, comprehensive exhibits of manufactured goods, with displays of actual manufacturing processes in many instances, testify to the increasingly important place which local industries are occupying in the development of the Dominion.
