THE REDPATH CUP
CRICKET AWARD MADE OTAGO BATSMAN SUCCESSFUL CONSISTENCY OF UTTLEY [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] CHRISTCHURCH, Wednesday K. F. Uttley, Otago, has been awarded the Redpath Cup for the most meritorious performance by a representative of the major Xew Zealand cricket associations during the 19:57-38 season. The award was announced this evening by Mr. D. 10. Wanklyn. chairman of the management committee of the New Zealand Cricket Council. • Uttley played six innings in representative matches last season for a total of 419 runs and an average of 69.83. His highest score was 138.
Two Auckland batsmen returned higher averages than that of Uttley, although they did not piny so many innings. V. Scott scored 207 runs in three innings, nt an average of 103.5. His highest score was 122 and he was once not out. P. E. Whitelaw made 322 runs in five innings, once not out, giving him an average of 80. His highest score was 108.
