TROTTING PRIZES

THE CHAMPIONSHIPS POT LUCK WINS £2175 PARISIENNE'S BRILLIANCY THREE FIRSTS AND A SECOND Trotting meetings in which representatives of other States took part have been held in Perth and Adelaide, but the inter-Dominion Trotting Championships, concluded in Christchiirch yesterday after numerous postponements ' because of wet weather, have been by far the most important. After her three successive victories in qualifying events for the championship, it was a foregone conclusion that the Auckland-bred mare Parisienne would receive championship honours, even if she failed to win the Grand Final, in which she was actually second to Pot Luck. Parisienne won over £'2ooo and a silver cup, valued at £SO, as a special trophy. Second in the points aggregate was Supertax, who won two qualifying heats and came third in another. One point behind him was Lucky Jack, who won two of his heats.

The apparent anomaly of Pot Luck being only.fourth in the points aggregate, although he won £2175, or £IOO more than Parisienne, is explained by the fact that the winning stake in the Grand Final yesterday was £ISOO, or nearly three times as much as the winners' stakes in the qualifying contests.

Most successful of the non-dinners in the championship events was Blair Athol, who gained seven points with two seconds and a third and won £575 in place-money. Nervie's Last was twice second and took £3OO, and King's Warrior, who gained the barren honour of fastest time in one of the' heats won by Parisienne, wou £225 by means of a second and a third. Of the Australians, the best performer was Joy's John, who ran second to Plutus and won £l5O. The only other Australian representative to win placemoney in the championship scries was Lady Childewood, who, with a third, gained £75.

Points were allotted as under: —The winner of each of the nine qualifying heats was awarded six points, second horse, 2J; third, one point and fastest net time, 2J. In the Grand Final, seven points were allotted to the winner, 2$ for second, one for third and three for fastest net time. The £750 stako in the heats was divided in the proportions of £525 lor first, £l5O for second and £75 for third. The Grand Final stake of £2250 was shared in the proportions of £ISOO to the winner, £450 for second, £2OO for third, £IOO for fourth and a lap prize of £IOO was awarded in addition. There is a further £250, and a ribbon for the highest points aggregate for fastest time, shared equally by Parisienne, Supertax and Lucky Jack.
