DEATH IN AUSTRALIA CHAMPION OF THE NINETIES (Received May 2, 8.55 p.in.) .SYDNEY, May 2 The death has occurred of Dick Cavill, aged 54, a member of the World's best known swimming family. •He won every Australian championship in the late nineties. The best mile performance of his career was registered at Wanganui on' February 25, 1902, when he was timed at 21m ]1 2-ss. The Australian and New Zealand record for 90 yards/stands to the credit of Cavill. He registered 51 3-os at Sydney in lf)04. • NEW WORLD RECORD 500 METRES FREE-STYLE (Received May 2, 8.55 p.m.) COPENHAGEN, May I Fraulein Ragnhild H veger swam 500 metres free-style in Cm IVJ l-10s, boather own world record.
