MOTOR-CAR'S DEFECTS
iTIED WITH STRING AND WIRE COURT FINES THE DRIVER [I'ROSt OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT] HAMILTON, Monday "It is ridiculous to say that you did not know that the car was in such bad condition. No one could drive a car like that and not be aware of its condition,'' said Mr. S. L. Paterson, S.M., in the Police Court to-day to J. C. Tietfens, of Hamilton, who was charged with driving a car the mechanical order of which was likely to cause injury to some person. Evidence given that the vehicle had no windscreen wiper, no rear vision mirror, no horn. 110 lights, no handbrake, a defective foot-brake, loose spokes in the wheels, one rear wheel loose on the axle, insufficient grease and -lubrication in the steering, and that it was tied in many places with string and wire. Defendant was fined £'4, and on a further charge of not having his vehicle equipped with a warrant of fitness he 5»-as fined £l.
