ORPHANS' CLUBS
AUCKLAND SEASON The 47th. session of the Auckland Orphans' Club was opened in the Lewis Eady Hall on Saturday night, and was largely attended. The president, Mr. C. G. Brookes, who presided, welcomed the official visitors, the executive of the Auckland Savage Club and representatives of various suburban and country clubs. The rangitira, the Hon. E. W. Alison, said the Auckland Savage Club would celebrate its 50th. anniversary on June 18, Mr. D. Harvey, of the Hamilton Orphans' Club, replied for the visitors. The past president, Sir Ernest Davis, Mayor of Auckland, was presented with the gold past president's badge, which was pinned on the lapel of his coat by Professor Maxwell Walker, who > conveyed the thanks and appreciation of the members for the able discharge of the presidential duties during his term of office.
An interesting talk was given by Professor R. M. Algie. The programme included selections by the orchestra under the conductorship of Mr. T. J. O'Connor.
MEETING AT OPOTIKI ELECTION OP OFFICERS [BT TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDEKt3 OPOTTKT. Sunday The animal meeting of the Opctiki Orphans' Club was held in the Masonic Hall. The retiring president, Mr. A. G. Stevenson, presided over an attendance of 30 members. The balance sheet showed a satisfactory credit balance. The following" officers were elected:— Patron, Mr. A. N. Davies; president, Mr. A. G. Stevenson; vice-presidents, Messrs. G. Dawson, A. Debreceny, and W. Anderson; honorary secretary, Mr. E. C. East; honorary treaturer, Mr. L. D.: Duff; honorary auditor, Mr. G. L. Day; honorary conductor, Mr. S. McDougall; chief steward, Mr. A. Dodgeson; committee, Messrs. R. Anderson, H. Hawkins, C. Tabb, K. Forbes, A. Burton, and H. L. Parkinson,,
