No. 3 grass track, with the poles five feet out, was used for fast work at Ellerslie on Saturday. The going was heavy and few fast \times were recorded. Surella, who is to race at the Egmont meeting, was responsible for the best half-mile of the morning. - Gay Broney (R. Fearn) jumped away after'passing the six furlongs and ran five in 1.7 3-5. Electric Spear (P. Fearn) joined in over the last half-mile which he ran in 54 2-ss. Aero King (McTavish) strode easily over six furlongs in 1.25 1-5, and Palmint (P. Fearn) and Bright Idea ; (Kerr) went a furlong less in 1.13 4-5. Tonnerro ran five furlongs easily in 1.13 4-5 and his stable-mate, Cheval de Volee, was let off with an easier task. These horses are to race at Pukekoho and will leave Ellerslie to-day. The Trimmer (Tucker) beat Summary (D.- Green) over five furlongs in 1.7 i-5 and Jack Tar (D. Green) moved freely over six furlongs in_ 1.23 2-5, upon which he could have improved. Love Parade (Coon) ran an easy half-mile in 55 3-ss. Surella (Markwick) improved on this time to record 51 3-ss. Surella appears to have done well since winning at Avondale. Mundane strddo over a round in 1.50 2-5, tho last six furlongs in 1.26 3-5. Valmint (Cammick) ran his first three furlongs in 40 l-ss, and completed six 4 in 1.21. This horse should come on rapidly now that the tracks are to his liking. Sir Abb (Dornan) came the last half-mile with'Valmint in 53 4-ss. My Money (T. Green) and Neil (Stokes) were sent twice over the steeplechase fences on the flat, getting through without mistake. My Money shaped encouragingly.
