GOOD DIVIDENDS

STALKY'S FINE RETURN PIRATE'S LAST DISTANCED ' STEWARDS ALTER PLACINGS SUCCESS OF STAR PRONTO Several good dividends were returned at the Auckland Trotting Club's Autumn Meeting at Epsom on Saturday, the best being returned by Stalky and Proletarian, both of whom paid double figures. Stalky actually finished second to Pirate.'s Last in the Whitford Handicap, but the' latter was distanced for galloping in the straight, Stalky bping placed first, Braemar secoml and Pirate's Last third. The racing was highly interesting in spite of the fact that the track was slow after recent rain, and there were several very close finishes. The unhoppled pacer Star Pronto was victorious in the chief event, the Fergusson Handicap, scoring from the each-way favourite Nawton Parrish and Gold Dredge. Fine weather attracted an attendance of 10,000 and the totalisator handled £33,992 10s. compared with £30,593 last year, an increase of £3399 10s.
