SCENE OF HAVOC REVEALED AS FLOODS SUBSIDE IN HAWKE'S BAY Mrs. R. Tait's home in the lower Esk Valley, north of Napier, buried in over 10ft. of silt by the receding flood. The occupants of this house had a narrow escape. The greater part of 20,000 acre* in the Esk Valley has been turned into a desolate waste by a deep bed of silt.
