CURE FOR INSOMNIA

CORRECT BREATHING SOUNDS GRAMOPHONE RECORD MADE [FBOM A BPECIAL CORRESPOXPENT] LONDON. April 9 A gramophone record designed to lull people to sleep has been invented by a Swiss psychologist practising in London. It offers new hope for sufferers from insomnia. The inventor, Air. M. E. J. Semadeni, claims that not only will the record send those who hear it to sleep, but it will cure snoring and dreaming and prove beneficial to asthmatics. At a demonstration this week the only sounds on the record were deep, steady, rhythmical breathing sounds, like those of a sleeping man. After two minutes listening to these sounds people find themselves breathing in the same rhythm Eyelids become heavy, yawns are general. Recently Mr. Semadeni played the record to a dozen people in a darkened room. In 15 minutes some of the people were fast asleep. Only two were wide awake at the end, and they admitted that they had fought against sleepiness. "J. came to the conclusion," said Mr. Semadeni, "that incorrect breathing was responsible for a good deal of insomnia. 1 have not had a single failure *vith my gramophone record, method. Patients are also cured of snoring, which is due to wrong breathing."
