TRANSPORT TOURNEY AUCKLAND AND WELLINGTON Tennis teams representing the Auckland and Wellington Transport Boards met in a tournament commenced yesterday at the Gaunt Street Depot courts for a trophy donated by motorman Manning, of the Epsom Depot. The visitors were welcomed at luncheon by the engineer-manager of the Auckland Transport Board, Mr. A. E. Ford. Mr. R. Somers, captain of the Auckland players, and Mr. H. Nicholls, manager of the Wellington team, replied. There will be no play to-day and the tournament will' be completed tomorrow. : '0 Following were the results of games played yesterday, Wellington names being mentioned first:— Men's Singles. —T. SYDNEY TOURNAMENT BROMWICH BEATS McGRATH • -■ ' i (Received May 1, 5.6 p.m.) SYDNEY, May 1 In the City of Sydnej tennis championships yesterday the final of the men's singles was won by Bromwich. who easily defeated McGrath, 6 —l. 6—3, 6 —l. -Bromwich was brilliant with his perfect placements, terrific speed and accuracy. In the men's doubles championship the final was won by Crawford and McGrath, who beat Bromwich and D. Pails, 6 —3 B—7,8 —7, 6—3. The final of the women's singles was won by Miss M. Blick from Miss V. Selwyn, 6—2, 2 —6, 6—2. HARD-COURT TITLES FINALS AT BOURNEMOUTH (Received May 1, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, April 30 In the British hard-court tennis championships to-day at Bournemouth Khosinkie (China) beat H. W. Austin (Britain) in the final of the men's singles, 6—4, 6—4, 3—6, 6 1 3. In the women's singles Miss M. Srriven (Britain), beat Miss A. Wynne (Victoria), 7—5,-6—2. The final of the women's doubles went to Misses Dearman and Ingram, who beat Misses James and Stammers. B—6. 4—6, 6—3. Yesterday's results were:— Women's Singles. PRESENTATIONS AT TAURANGA [by telegraph—own correspondent] TAURANGA, Sunday In making the presentations to winners at the annual prize-giving of the Taumnga South Tennis Club, the president. Mr. H. Gilmore Rodgers, congratulated the club on its good season, and mentioned that T. M. Bloor had won the men's senior championship for the third time in succession. Prizewinners were as follows:—Ladies' junior championship, Miss M. Le Cren; ladies'senior championship, Miss M. Le Cren; men's senior championship, T. M. Bloor: men's junior championship, H. Williams; ladies' handicap singles. Miss K. Martin; men's handicap singles, L. Underwood.
