GOLF CONTESTS

COMPETITIONS PLAY ON HEAVY COURSES bloomfield bowl matches Local golf courses were again heavy during the week-end when competitions were held by the various clubs. The "clean and place" winter rule was in force at Middlemore for the first round of the Bloomfield Bowl competition and the scoring was better than is usual in this event. With net scores of 68. G. W. S. Williams and Warwick Wilson led the-field, while lan Wilson was next with a 70. The concurrent medal was won 'by Williams after a count- back. In the third round of the Ballin Cup nt Titirangi, H. T. Jaffery defeated E. Ohlson at the 19th, while H. I). Brinsden had an easy win at the expense of B. T. Lavcock. Jhe other low markers, ' J. H. Young and M. Fraser-Smith, were boa ton by F. A. Pezaro and L. E. K. Wakeman respectively. A Stablcford bogey resulted in a win for J. C. Callinan, while Ji. J. Clifford and V. ; Humphreys were next. f j The first round of the Patterson Cup competition was played at Akarana and a foursomes Stableford bogey which was held in conjunction was won by D.
