AUCKLAND REVENUE GENERAL DECLINE SHOWN TOTALS FOR LAST MONTH Revenue collected by the Customs Department at Auckland last month was substantially below the total for April, 1937. Customs duty, tax on motor spirit, tyre duty and sales tax last month were all less than the amounts collected under tho various headings in the corresponding month last year, tho only item to show an increase being excise on beer. Totals for the first four months of this j-ear, however, are higher than those for the January-April period of 1937, with tho exception of tyre duty, which shows a slight decline. Approximately £2OOO extra was collected last month. The revenue from the petrol tax increased hi' about £llOO, while a reduction of nearly £3OOO was recorded in tho sales tax figures.
