NEW BATHING SHED

TAKAPUNA BEACH PLAN r BOROUGH COUNCIL'S APPROVAL Consideration was given last night by the Takapuna Borough Council to the plans and estimates for the erection of a bathing shed on Takapuna beach. The Mayor, Mr. J. Guiniven, said the construction of a new shed was long overdue. Plans had been drawn up for a building to cost £SOO which would be on similar lines to the bathing sheds at Mil ford. He moved that the council should agree to th« proposal to build the shed and that.® Government subsidy should be obtained.

Mr. C. L. Clifton moved as an amendment that the matter should be deferred on the grounds that a more comprehensive scheme was required. The amendment was lost and the original inotioii carried, Mr. W. M. White wishing to have his vote re* corded against the proposal. He considered that the borough should not embark on such an expenditure M view of the size of the overdraft, which he said would amount. to between £39,000 and £40.000 before-the rates began to come in.
