ST. MATTHEW'S CHURCH

ANNUAL MEETING HELD A small credit balance was disclosed in the accounts of St. Matthew's Anglican Church at the annual meeting of parishioners on Tuesday night. The Pev. G. V.: Gerard presided over a good attendance. As a residt of an appeal made during the year for funds for the renovation of the church and repairs to the organ, £IOOO had been received and the work was now in hand. The Pev. H. Johnson, reporting on the Dock Street Mission, referred to the work of the medical clinic, and mentioned the mission's recent activities in making provision for free hot baths for the poor in Freeman's Bay. A vote of appreciation for the help given by Dr. Woodward Horsley was carried. Addresses on church affairs were given by the Pev. P. Houghton and Mr. E. D. Wilkinson, and a short lecture on tho art of bellringing was delivered by Mr. Colegrove, selections 011 a set of hand bells being rendered by a team of ringers. Synodsinen elected were Messrs. W. Birss and G. T. Zohrab, while Mr. E. G. Lewis was reappointed vicar's warden. Mr. G. T. Zohrab was elected parishioners' warden. The following vestrymen were appointed:—Messrs. W. Birss, E. V. Dawson, E. Gerrard, J. Littler. A. Moore, C. Maloy, E. W. Ravenhall, T. Sullivan, P. Williams and J. Wills.
