CHARGE OF ASSAULT

STRUCK WITH A BOTTLE A plea of guilty was entered by John Lewis Hurrell, aged 20, seaman, to a charge of assaulting Charles Guy Dormant ies so as to cause him actual bodily harm, heard before Mr. E. K. Hunt, S.M., in the Police Court yesterday. Both men are firemen on the Port Denison. Sub-Inspector Fox stated that, the men were walking along King's Wharf ou Tuesday evening, when accused took a bottle of beer from Desinaraies' pocket and struck him over the head. The injured man was treated at tho Auckland Hospital, and five or six stitches were inserted in the wound. Tho magistrate fined accused £4 and costs.
