TEMPERANCE WORK
Otahiiliu. —A report of the recent Dominion convention of the Women's Christian Temperance Union was given by Mrs. Williams, district vice-presi-dent, at a meeting of the Otfthllhu branch. Mrs. W. Taylor presided. Ponsonbv. —The monthly meeting of the Ponsonbv branch of the Women's Christian Temperance Union was held on Thursday afternoon. Miss L. M. Head presided. Members agreed to assist in the Poppy Day street appeal. The following ladies were elected delegates to the New Zealand Alliance convention: —Mesdames Cnssidy, Keene and Watson. Members of the branch were asked to assist at tho temperance stall at the winter show. The report of the annual Dominion convention was given by Miss Pead. A resolution was passed bv the meeting congratulating'the Towai Agricultural Association on the stand it took at the annual dinner and dance of the association in not allowing intoxicating liquor to be used for toasts.
