SUPPLY MAINTAINED v RAIN STILL NEEDED [BY TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION'] IX YE RCA RG ILL, Monday Very light electricity loads in South* land 011 Sunday and to-day permitted the supply of power to be uninterrupted during the week-end. For the first time in five days the Invevcargill suburbs had a full supply on Saturday evening and the country districts also benefited. The warm dry spell continues over most of Southland, less than half an inch of rain having fallen in Invercargill this month, but the weather at Monowai was overcast and threatening with a fair fall of rain on Sunday night and early this morning. For the 24 hours to nine o'clock this morning .13in. of rain was recorded at the powerhouse. The effect of this fall could not be judged at the lake, where the level remained constant. The powerhouse staff could not state to-day whether heavier rain had fallen in the back country eatohment area, but reported that as yet there was no sifftt of snow. i"
