VALUE TO CANADA [from our own correspondent] TORONTO, March Tourists from other countries spent 205,000,000 dollars in Canada in 1937, while Canadian tourists in other countries spent approximately 123,000,000 dollars, according to careful official estimates of the Dominion Bureau of Statistics. Corresponding figures for 1936 were 219,000,000 and 107,000,000 dollars. Travellers entering Canada via ocean ports in 1937 numbered 15,115 agninst J. 2,924 in 1930 and spent an estimated Bum of .13,899,000 dollars, compared with 10,446,000 dollars. There were 3,127,352 automobiles entering Canada for a period not exceeding 48 hours against 2,880,265 in 19.°,6 and 1,383,130 automobiles for a period pot exceeding 60 days compared with >1,192,935. The expenditure of motor tourists was estimated at 182,112,000 dollars, against 153,508,000 dollars. Tourists entering by rail numbered 891,956 and those by steamer 267,566.
