POLICE COURT NEWS
CHARGES OF THEFT Charged with the theft of a fur coat valued at £27, the property of Florence Harriet Holmes, Albert Thomas Kndwcll. steward, aged 50, appeared before Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., in the Police Court on Saturday morning. The magistrate granted a remand until May 2, and allowed bail of £IOO in accused's own recognisance, with a surety for a similar amount. James William Burton, aged 24, labourer, was charged with stealing five motor-car tyres and rims valued at £8 from a city firm. Accused was remanded until Thursday on bail of £IOO, with a surety of £IOO.
Harold Newton, aged 20, labourer, was charged with having stolen a quantity of foodstuffs valued at £4 13s 3d, the property of a' city firm. He was remanded in custody until Thursday.
