RUNAWAY VAN
CRASH INTO SHOP WINDOW EARLY MORNING INCIDENT A light delivery van drawn up at the corner of Lome and Wellesley Streets just after five o'clock on Saturday morning ran back downhill and crashed into the window of D. Stern, Limited, furriers, in Wellesley Street East. .Mr. E. T. Gladding, driver of the van, had driven up Wellesley Street and pvdled up at the corner of Lorne Street to deliver a bundle of newspapers. As lie turned from a shop doorwav ho saw the van moving backward down the incline. He caught up with it just as the vehicle went on to the footpath, and although he applied the hand brake he was just too late to prevent the impact between the back of the van and the shop window. None of the articles in the window was damaged.
