A SHOCK TO COME
THE HOSPITAL LEVY INCREASE PREDICTED RESULT OF RISING COSTS [from our own correspondent] PUKEKOHE, Wednesday "While I cannot divulge figures, I believe the whole of the local bodies in the Auckland district will get a great shock when the Hospital Board levy for the current financial year is known," said Mr. G. T. Parvin, Franklin member of the board, at this evening's meeting of the Pukekohe Borough Council.
"Increased wages, the increased cost of necessities and one or two minor factors," he added, "have made a sharp increase in the levy unavoidable."
